Successfully Growing Cameo Double Impatiens
Media/Temperature:
Grow at 60°F-65°F night temperature. Premature bud drop may occur late in the season if temperatures and light intensity become too high.
Light:
In the northern states, grow without shade in fall, winter, and spring. Grow with partial shade in summer. In the South, more shade may be required as temperatures and light conditions demand.
Growth Regulators:
B-9 is ineffective. Use Bonzi® and Sumagic® at grower's risk, as they may delay flowering. Water reduction is a very effective tool to control finished height.
Fertilizer:
Fertilize with 150-200ppm N constant feed. Use a formula with the N high in the NO3 form. Do not overfeed as excessive growth may result.
Scheduling Pots:
In 4" pots, use 1 plant per pot (ppp); in 6" pots, use 2ppp. The crop takes 5 to 6 weeks to finish from a rooted cutting without a pinch. One plant may be used per 6" pot, but an additional 2 weeks finish time is required.
Scheduling Baskets:
Soft pinch method: in 10" hanging baskets, use 4ppp. Soft pinch within 1-2 weeks after transplanting. This method takes 8 - 10 weeks to finish and produces a premium basket.
No pinch method: In 10" hanging baskets, use 5ppp. Do not pinch. This method produces a fine basket in only 6-8 weeks.
